  • Site Director: Boston

    More Than Words (MTW) seeks an inspiring leader who combines a strong background in youth development, with experience working directly with opportunity youth and a proven track record of motivating teams to meet and exceed goals.

    The Site Director is responsible for cultivating an empowering culture that ensures successful outcomes for youth, fidelity to the MTW model, and organizational alignment. Specifically, the Site Director provides strategic leadership, as well as day-to-day oversight of the youth and social enterprise programming and serves as a role model and professional resource for youth.

    This Site Director reports dually to the EVP/Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief of Social Enterprise (CSE), and in partnership with the Boston Site Leadership Team (9), adult staff (35) and numerous volunteers to serve ~300 youth each year in the core social enterprise and graduate programs. As MTW’s enterprise operates 7 days per week, including evenings, this position offers a flexible 5-day per week schedule with the need to be available to support staff and youth during evenings and weekends, as needed.

  • Communications and Marketing Manager

    The Communications & Marketing Manager is a creative and collaborative leader who will centrally organize and implement marketing strategies to promote MTWs programs and the growth of our social enterprise businesses. The Manager is responsible for planning and creating content on social media platforms and e-blasts, designing flyers and collateral materials, collaborating with business team leaders in social enterprise growth strategies, and managing the creation of an annual report and appeal. This role also occasionally supports other design projects, photoshoots, and press engagements. This is a new position designed to centralize and knit together marketing social enterprise businesses with mission-marketing in new and deeper ways. The Manager reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and works in strong partnership with the Director of New Business, Chief of Social Enterprise, and other business team leaders.

  • Government Contracts Manager

    The Government Contracts Manager is an organized and proactive leader who will manage youth contract enrollments, invoicing, and grant deliverables at More Than Words (MTW). The Manager reports to the Associate Director of Policy & Government Relations and is accountable for managing government grants and fee-for-service contracts from local, state, and federal sources. The role includes a range of tasks from administrative (grant enrollments, creating invoices) to strategic (optimizing enrollments across the teams, developing new systems) and collaborates closely with and is supported by staff in admissions and finance. The Manager will be on a particular mission increase the percent of our youth team who are funded and expand fee-for-service funding.

    The Associate Director of Government Relations & Policy is a focused, ambitious, and strategic leader who will lead policy advocacy at More Than Words and provide oversight to the government contracts function. The Associate Director reports to the Chief Advancement Officer with a dotted line and close collaboration with the Founder & CEO, directly supervises a Government Contracts Manager, and engages and supports youth graduate and alumni leaders working on policy advocacy. The role includes a focus on strategic growth of government funding, developing and implementing advocacy plans on a youth-led policy agenda, and proactively developing youth leadership in advocacy.

americorps VISTA service opportunities

MTW AmeriCorps VISTA Service positions are one-year roles that provide extensive opportunity to gain professional development experience in a thriving and growing non-profit. Individuals in these positions are AmeriCorps members who are placed at MTW for their year of service and are eligible to receive many additional benefits including individual health insurance, relocation and/or childcare assistance (if eligible) as well as end-of-service awards.
